Shenzhen landslide: PetroChina will suspend gas supply to Hong Kong for 7-10 days

According to CNPC’s official WeChat account on the 21st, affected by the Shenzhen landslide, CNPC West Gas The Guangzhou-Shenzhen branch pipeline of the East Transmission Company was damaged and leaked, but no signs of explosion and fire were found.
The damaged pipeline is the valve room of the Guangshen Branch Line 16#-17#. PetroChina immediately responded by venting the remaining natural gas downstream of the 16# valve chamber and the remaining natural gas upstream of the 17# valve chamber. After the two valve chambers were vented, the gas supply to Hong Kong was interrupted.
Up to now, CNPC has sent rescue personnel to the scene to make repairs. According to the plan, the temporary pipeline route survey and plan will be completed on the morning of the 22nd, and the temporary pipeline laying will begin on the afternoon of the 22nd. It is expected to be completed in 7-10 days. The investigation and design of the formal pipeline plan will be carried out simultaneously.
According to The Paper, the gas source for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen branch line comes from Central Asian natural gas. Used in Hong Kong Longgutan Power Plant to generate electricity. A quarter of Hong Kong's electricity consumption is generated by natural gas delivered from this route.
